Anthony Davis Injury: Updates on Pelicans Star's Recovery from Knee Surgery

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 08 Sep 2016

After missing 21 games last season due to knee and shoulder injuries, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis is expected to be healthy for the start of the 2016-17 NBA regular season.Continue for updates.Davis Expected to Be Fully ClearedThursday, Sept. 8According to John Reid of theNew Orleans Times Picayune, Pels general manager Dell Demps said the expectation is that Davis will be fully cleared with no medical restrictions prior to the beginning of the campaign.PerReid, Davis underwent knee surgery in March, and he also dealt with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that didn't require surgery. The three-time All Star was enjoying an MVP-caliber season in 2015-16 aside from the ailments, as he averaged 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game for a Pelicans team that was ravaged by injuries.Davis led New Orleans to the playoffs in 2014-15, and although the team experienced a sharp decline to a 30-52 record last year, a healthy Davis should make a world of difference during the upcoming season. The Pelicans have a significant lack of depth in the frontcourt with rookie second-round pick Cheick Diallo as the primary backup to Davis at power forward, so Davis' health will likely be the biggest key to New Orleans' success in 2016-17.
