As they alighted form his car, they stopped to greet some guests who were leaving Daura's home. As they exchanged pleasantries, an ash colored Toyota Corolla car drove into the street at top speed and stopped in front of Hirse and his friends. Three armed masked young men jumped down from the car, accosted Hirse and ordered him to immediately enter their vehicle. As he tried to inquire why, one of the men raised his gun and fired into the air.The former Minister obeyed their instruction and entered their car. His family is yet to hear from the abductors.Man, wife, baby in prison custody over murderA 38-year-old-man, Bernard Inya, and his wife, Chinyere (34), alongside their two-month-old baby have been remanded at the federal prisons in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State over the death of a lady in their community.The accused persons hail from Ezi Nwachi Ndibe in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state.The couple was arraigned by the police at the magistrate's court on charges of murder punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Law Cap 33 Volume 1 Laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009.Southern City News learnt that the mother of the baby Chinyere had pleaded while on dock that she should be granted bail for the sake of her baby but her plea was not granted by the magistrate.After listening to the plea of the accused, the trial magistrate, Nwachi Olughu, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.The magistrate also ordered that the court processes be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.The matter was adjourned till January 20, 2017 for hearing.We've hired 200,000 graduates ' FGTo start work Dec 1President Muhammadu Buhari's 500,000 job intervention programme for unemployed graduates has finally kicked off, with successful applicants commencing work on December 1, 2016. The project has had several hiccups, which elicited doubts in many Nigerians about its practicability.Abducted wives of Nasarawa Commissioner regain freedomHajia Rabi Aliyu and Hajia Larai Aliyu, wives of the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aliyu Tijjani, who were abducted from Nasarawa town, have regained their freedom.DPS Kenedy Idrissu, Spokesman of the state Police Command, on Sunday in Lafia, said that the women were released by their abductors at about 11 p.m. on Saturday at Mararaba-Udege village in Nasarawa town.He said the kidnappers were forced to release the women following sustained pressure from the Police search party.He said no ransom was paid and that the victims were unhurt and had been reunited with their family.According to Idrissu, no arrest has been made as investigation had begun to find those behind the incident.The women were abducted at about 8 p.m. on Thursday from their residence in Nasarawa town by gunmen, who shot sporadically into the air before whisking away the victims in their vehicles.How pornography, masturbation affect the brain ' ClericRev. Paul Ojoh, the Resident Pastor, Shepherd House Assembly International, Jos has said that pornography and masturbation could affect the brain and impede productivity.'Those twin evils could hurt the brain and impede productivity because of the cumulative negative effects of addiction to them,' he stated on Sunday in Jos, during a sermon at the Youth Conference of the Church.In the sermon titled: 'Dealing with Forces of Addiction', he noted that a high percentage of youths suffer addiction mostly to pornography and masturbation.' Research has shown that more than 50 per cent of youths are addicted to pornography, while 60 to 90 per cent of adolescent boys and 40 per cent of adolescent girls are addicted to masturbation.' These addictions are sins against nature; the right hemisphere of the brain functions in facilitating creativity and inventions and a portion of the brain called 'cingulate codex, is responsible for moral and ethical decisions.' So, when you feed your brain with masturbation and pornographic materials, it impedes your productivity and affects the efficiency of your brain which is designed to perform the task of creativity and invention,'' he explained.Ojoh said that the remedy to such addictions was acknowledging that addicts could not fight the battle of emancipation alone, and therefore required divine intervention to see them through.'Addicts of masturbation must admit that they cannot overcome their battles alone. They must accept that it is only possible with the divine intervention of God.'It is important you avoid anything that triggers such addictions; these are things that you see and read that pollute your mind towards it like movies, magazines and places' You must renew your mind and feed it with the word of God to fight addictive materials that have occupied the space of your mind.'Addicts should also seek counsel from people of integrity, who will counsel them and monitor them through their recovery process,'' he said.He said that addictions could also enslave a man, put him in bondage and regulate the lifestyle of the affected person or persons, which could subjugate potentialities.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the clergy, who defined addiction as a repeated habit which becomes a lifestyle, mentioned other negative addictions to include the internet, food, sex, alcohol, amongst others.The youth conference featured comedies, drama plays and special renditions from the Choir.Recession is God's punishment for Nigeria ' KanuEmmanuel Kanu, brother of detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu on Sunday described recession in the country as Nigeria's consequence for fighting Biafra.A statement he issued on Sunday in Awka, Anambra State, Emmanuel said more punishment would befall the country if the authorities fail to free his brother and allow Biafra manifest.The statement read, 'The family members of the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu who is being detained illegally in Kuje prison, condemned the incessant kidnapping and spilling of blood of unarmed members of the indigenous people of Biafra in parts of Biafra land.'The blood of Biafrans spilled in Nigeria since 1945 till date is crying to God Almighty for revenge, that is why Nigerians are suffering today and no remedy is in sight unless the government of Nigeria and her security agents stop killing Biafrans and allow Biafra to become an independent state.'They arrested the anointed man of God, Nnamdi Kanu who was sent to come and liberate his people of Biafra.The statement said that all those who had hands in the incarceration of Kanu would not go scot free.'Government should release my brother, and other members of IPOB unconditionally to avert more plagues on Nigeria', the statement added.Military begins operation to take over SambisaThe Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, said on Sunday in Maiduguri that an operation tagged 'Operation Crackdown'' to take over the Sambisa forest from the Boko Haram terrorists by troops had commenced.Olonisakin spoke while fielding questions from newsmen after he inspected some military fighting equipment at the headquarters of the Threatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole.He also said that alongside the operation crackdown, 'Operation Safe Corridor Initiative'' had also been put in place for the terrorists to surrender.'That is the corridor for them to surrender. That corridor is always open.'However, we will not wait until they surrender, that is why operation crackdown, to ensure that we take over the Sambisa, clear the terrorists from those places and make the place safe for development,'' Olonisakin said.The chief of defence staff said that he was in Maiduguri for operational visit to encourage the troops to continue the fight and commend their efforts so far.He also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen.
