Adrian Peterson Rumors: RB Would Consider Pay Cut to Play for Patriots

Published by Bleacher Report on Tue, 07 Mar 2017

The next stop for running back Adrian Peterson could end up being the New England Patriots.According to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, the veteran could be willing to take a reduced salary to try for a Super Bowl ring."A source close to Peterson told the Herald that since AP has already earned a tonmore than $97 million is his careerit's certainly something he'd consider," Guregian noted.Peterson became a free agent last week after the Minnesota Vikings declined his $18 million option. The 31-year-old is coming off a lost season where a knee injury limited him to just three games. He finished with just 72 rushing yards on 37 attempts for a career-low 1.9 yards per carry. However, he is one year removed from leading the NFL with 1,485 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. It was the third rushing title in his career and fourth time being named first-team All-Pro. He has also been named to seven Pro Bowls and earned one MVP award.Charles Robinsonof Yahoo Sports reported the Patriots are preparing to lose LeGarrette Blount in free agency, which could mean the team needs a replacement at running back.Considering the Patriots have now won two of the last three Super Bowls, this could be a good chance for Peterson to make the deepest playoff run of his career.
