It was another exciting finish at the 2017 Masters on Sunday, as Sergio Garcia beat out Justin Rose for the green jacket and first-place paycheck. The final standings of this year's Masters can be found below:It was Garcia's first win at a major after numerous close calls. He won it in a sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole, as the Golf Channel showed:A lot went down Sunday during the fourth round, as Garcia took an early lead and looked strong every time he struck the ball. Separating himself early from other competitors, it looked like the Spaniard's tournament to lose. Before Garcia put on the green jacket, however, history had already been made by both Rose and the Spaniard, as they became the first final pairing in Masters history from Europe, per BBC Sport:The tide began to turn for Garcia, as Rose stormed back to take a two-shot lead after the first 11 holes. Rose was looking strong, but he may look back at the 13th hole as a turning point. He missed a short birdie putt that would've given him a three-shot lead. Apart from the two-horse race for the green jacket, Jordan Spieth had another nightmare on the 12th hole as he splashed into the water, resulting in a double bogey. It was deja vu from his collapse in last year's Masters, only this time he wasn't in the lead when his fourth round fell apart.Apart from Spieth's dreadful shot on No. 12, the fourth round also had some incredible shots that sent Twitter into a frenzy. It all began with what was being called a "slam-dunk eagle" from Russell Henley, whose shot landed perfectly in the hole. But even that wasn't the best shot of the day.Matt Kuchar was on the outside looking in for most of the tournament until the 16th hole where he hit an incredible hole-in-one to leapfrog him into third place.Even Rory McIlroy was impressed with Kuchar's stroke, as the Masters Tournament Twitter account showed:It's hard not to feel for Rose, but Garcia has waited a very, very long time for this moment and wasn't about to let it slip through his fingers once again. After all, he's finished second-best on four different occasions in his career, per ESPN Stats and Info:Rose put on one hell of a performance Sunday but came up just short. He was a good sport throughout the entire round, though, and even gave Garcia his moment to shine before sinking his final putt by allowing Garcia to walk ahead of him to the cheers of the crowd.Congratulations, Sergio Garcia. You are the 2017 Masters champion, and you have the green jacket to prove it.
