Crystal Palace Vs Arsenal 3 - 0 - (Full Time)

Published by Nairaland on Tue, 11 Apr 2017

After impressive 3-0 victory over WestHam, Arsenal will play away to relegation threatened Crystal Palace on Monday, April 10.Arsenal's desperate chase for a top-four finish in the Premier League continues when they make the short journey across London to face Crystal Palace on Monday. The Gunners have fallen behind Liverpool and Manchester City in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification and must beat the Eagles at Selhurst Park.Palace manager Sam Allardyce has galvanised his team since arriving in south London in December, but the club is still on the cusp of relegation and needs to register more points. Both teams are desperate to claim three points at Selhurst, but injuries have put Allardyce's unit under severe strain.Tom Doyle of the London Evening Standard reported Palace will be without midfielder Yohan Cabaye for the game, with Scott Dann, Pape Souare, James Tomkins, Fraser Campbell and Connor Wickham all confirmed absentees. However, James McArthur and Joe Ledley could return for the Eagles.According to Doyle, Wenger has both his senior goalkeepers out through injury, with Emiliano Martinez set to deputise. Petr Cech is recovering from a calf injury, while David Ospina has a bad back. Laurent Koscielny and Lucas Perez will miss the trip through injuries, but Francis Coquelin is once again available.Arsenal have found consistency difficult to attain this year, and the top four places have begun to evade them. The Gunners have failed to find victory in 13 of their 29 Premier League matches this term, and the 36 goals they have conceded is more than the chasing Manchester United and Everton.Palace appeared a favourite for the drop just a few weeks ago, with Allardyce initially failing to have the desired impact after his installation as manager. However, as he has done many times before, Big Sam has turned his team's fortunes around'and only a total collapse will see Palace plummet out of England's top flight. The win is equally as important for Wenger, but the Frenchman's position has been severely questioned this season.A defeat at Palace will leave the Gunners seven points adrift of fourth and could shape whether the veteran has the reins at the club next year.
