Aaron Donald's 5th-Year Contract Option Reportedly Exercised by Rams

The Los Angeles Rams exercised the fifth-year contract option on defensive tackle Aaron Donald for the 2018 season Wednesday.ESPN's Field Yates was the first to report that L.A. had exercised the $6.892 million option, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later confirmed.The 2017 season marks the final year of Donald's initial four-year rookie contract, and he is set to make $1.8 million in base salary with a cap hit of over $3.25 million, perSpotrac.In three NFL seasons, Donald has made the Pro Bowl three times and been named to the All-Pro First Team twice.Last season, the 25-year-old registered 47 tackles and eight sacks. He already has 28 sacks overall during his young NFL career.Donald has been a measure of reliability and consistency, having never missed a game during his time in the league.The 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year is in line for salary boost in 2018, but a long-term, big-money contract in the neighborhood of the one Ndamukong Suh signed with the Miami Dolphins may not be far behind.
