8 Leicester City Fans Arrested for Public Disorder Before Atletico Madrid Match

Eight Leicester City fans were arrested on Tuesday evening in Madrid ahead of their side's UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Atletico Madrid.According to MailOnline's Rory O'Callaghan, police and travelling supporters clashed in Madrid'sPlaza Mayor on Tuesday evening local time, leaving three officers and two fans with minor injuries."Eight hooligans were arrested for public disorder and vandalism," said a police spokesperson, per O'Callaghan.PerBBC News, the eight fans will appear in court on Thursday, whilejournalist Phil Mackie provided footage of what he claimed to be an unwarranted arrest from Madrid police:O'Callaghan's report provided details of "riot police charging at the Leicester fans" congregatedin the Plaza Mayor.Aspokesperson for the municipal emergency services explained it was Foxes fans "throwing bottles at the police" that provoked the intervention, per O'Callaghan:"There was a group of 70 hooligans when the police charged.On the ground we attended five people, three police officers and two English ultras for cuts and bruises, but nobody was taken to hospital."Leicester face Atleti in the first leg of their last-eight clash on Wednesday, with the reverse fixture scheduled for April 18 at the King Power Stadium.
