Jigawa trains 2,700 malaria managers

The Jigawa State government have trained 2,700 community malaria managers under its Community Direct Intervention(CDI)programme. This was disclosed by the state's Commissioner of Health, Dr.Abubakar Tafida at an event to mark the World Malaria Day in Jigawa yesterday. He said the 2,700 selected trainees would be deployed to communities to manage uncomplicated malaria cases. Dr. Tafida said from the data available to them, cases of malaria in the state have dropped from 60 per cent in 2011 to 30 per cent in 2012, adding that the achievements were made possible by people oriented health programmes put in place by the Lamido administration.
