San Antonio Spurs forward Pau Gasol notched 13 points, seven boards and one steal during Wednesday's 101-97 loss to the Utah Jazz. In doing so, he joined the elite club of NBA players to have totaled at least 20,000 points and 10,000 rebounds throughout their career, per Elias Sports Bureau.Every retired player who is eligible for the Hall of Fame and has achieved the 20,000-point/10,000-rebound benchmark has been inducted. Gasol joins the ranks of legends Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnettwho have also achieved the benchmarkand will likely be inducted alongside them once they become eligible.This season marks Gasol's 16th year in the association. He was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2001 and was subsequently dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies. He went on to win rookie of the year and spent the first seven years of his career in Memphisracking up 8,966 points and 4,096 reboundsbefore the club traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal that involved his brother, Marc Gasol.He spent the next seven years playing for the Lakers, winning two NBA Championships and racking up7,610 points and 4,240 rebounds in Los Angeles. He then moved on tothe Chicago Bulls in the summer of 2014. In the two seasons he spent there, he totaled 2,633 points and 1,712 rebounds before departing this past summer to join San Antonio.Though it took him to the final game of the regular season, Gasol finally broke through the 20,000-point/10,000-rebound barrier, totaling 792 points and 501 rebounds with the Spurs this year. He did so while also making the most three-pointers of his career. The veteran big man knocked down 56 triples on an impressive 53.8 percent clip.The Spurs finished 61-21 this season, good for second in the Western Conference behind the 67-15 Golden State Warriors. Gasol has been to the playoffs 10 timesthree seasons with the Grizzlies, six with the Lakers and one with the Bulls. He boasts playoff averages of 16.9 points on 51.3 percent shooting, 9.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.9 blocks across 38.0 minutes per game and will look to improve on those totals in his 11th career playoff run.The Spurs will take on Gasol's former team, the Grizzlies, in the first round of the playoffs.
