Meet the first African elected to the Federal Parliament in Australia

Kenyan-Australian based lawyer, Lucy Gichuhi has emerged as the first African descent elected to the Federal Parliament as a senator in Australia.The Family First member who came second behind her fellow candidate, Bob Day, in a recent election was later declared the winner after the electoral commission found Day ineligible to hold office because he had an 'indirect pecuniary interest' in an agreement with the commonwealth.
