Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris , Minister of Mines Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, Bauchi state governor, Mohammed Abubakar and his Bayelsa state counterpart have felicitated with Christians on the occasion of the Easter, urging them to emulate Jesus Christ.Easter is a yearly event mark by Christians after a 40 days fasting and prayers to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.But Speaker Dogara in a statement signed by his special adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, Dogara, urged Christians and Nigerians in general to imbibe the lessons of the resurrection as living evidence that every challenge, including even death, can be overcome through abiding faith in God and dogged determination, noting that this should serve as a springboard to rise above the challenges they are currently faced with.As we remember the cruxification, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we should draw a lesson from his resurrection and rise above the challenges we currently face in this country.Governor Mohammed Abubakar also enjoined Christians in Bauchi state to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ.In a statement signed by his press secretary Abubakar Al-Sadique, governor Abubakar charged Christians to be good ambassadors of their religion, saying as we are witnessing this years lent period, let me call on our Christian brothers and sisters to put into practice the lessons of the let which teaches patience and self-denial from evil acts and its associates in the society.The Bayelsa State Governor,Seriake Dickson has called on Nigerians to sink their political and religious differences and work together to promote the collective interest and development of the country.Governor Dickson, made the call at the Easter Cantata programme organised by the state government to mark the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House in Yenagoa, Christians to reflect on the life and times of Jesus Christ who paid the supreme price to save mankind and put His teachings to practice in all their dealings.The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi also called on Nigerian Christians to imbibe the spirit of love, perseverance and sacrifice which the Lord Jesus Christ exhibited in ensuring the salvation of humanity.The Minister in his Easter message, signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, congratulated Christians for the successful completion of the Lenten season, a period of 40 days of fasting and prayer that culminated in the Easter celebration.Also, the Inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris on behalf of entire personnel of the Nigeria Police Force heartily felicitates withChristian faithfuls throughout the country on the occasion of this years Easter celebration.The IGP while wishing all Christians across the country a happy Easter celebration, enjoins them to extol the virtues of Jesus Christ by propagating peace, demonstrating love with their fellow citizens, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political inclination.This is even as the Inspector General of Police has directed Assistant Inspectors General of Police in charge of Zonal commands and Commissioners of Police nationwide to be on ground throughout the celebration to supervise and implement the robust security arrangements and massive deployment of Police personnel throughout the country for crime prevention and control, so as to ensure crime and hitch free celebration.According to the FPRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the deployment of the Police personnel for crime prevention and crowd control will cover places of worships, recreation centres, and venues of celebration, other public places and public and private facilities.
