Rumoured Liverpool transfer target Lorenzo Insigne is reportedly prepared to shun interest from the Premier League and stay at Napoli. The Italy international winger is said to be ready to discuss a new contract with the Serie A club. The report comes from Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Marc Williamsof the Daily Star) and indicates Insigne is "close to agreeing a new deal with the Serie A giants."In fact, the classy 25-year-old attacker is already engaging in talks about a new deal, per the same reports: "It is said that Insigne met with club officials earlier this week to hold sit down talks over his new terms that will tie him down until 2022."Insigne's desire to stay put would be a blow for Liverpool, with the Anfield club named as one potential suitor for the player. Williams wrote: "Premier League duo Liverpool and Arsenal are both understood to be fans of the attacker, who has scored 16 goals in 44 appearances for Napoli this season."There is no doubt the Reds could use a player as gifted on and off the ball as Insigne. The Italian's movement is among the most perceptive in Europe. In particular, he is highly adept at ghosting off the flanks and getting between centre-backs.Insigne also boasts deceptive pace to stretch a defence, and he can finish with either foot. His quality in front of goal is supported by strong scoring form for a free-scoring Napoli side in Italy's top flight this season, per Squawka Football:Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would make excellent use of another roving wide forward who can press up top and break quickly in behind. The Reds already have one of those in Sadio Mane, but the Senegal international's knee injury is a concern.Without Mane, Liverpool lack a direct threat when playmakers such as Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho prefer receiving the ball to feet, rather than getting beyond a back four.Insigne would provide the extra element Klopp's squad needs in the final third, even though it looks like it's going to be tough convincing the player to leave Naples.Naby Keita on Klopp's List of Transfer TargetsThe forward line isn't the only area Klopp will look to fix when the window opens this summer. He'll also be looking at midfield, with one target already on his wish list, according to Paul Joyce of The Times (subscription required): "The club also want to sign Naby Keita, the RB Leipzig midfielder."Keita is a powerful, destructive and technically gifted workhorse. In many ways, he is similar to Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum, a hugely underrated player wisely signed by Klopp from relegated Newcastle United last summer. However, signing Keita may not be so easy, not when RB Leipzig have already secured a place in next season's UEFA Champions League, per Reuters (h/t Eurosport).Of course, Liverpool are also strongly placed to be playing in Europe's premier club competition next season. The Reds are currently fourth in England's top flight but still need to ensure Champions League qualification. If they could do that and sign Keita, Liverpool would be a major force next season. Keita's industry would be perfect for Klopp's press-crazed style of play, an approach that demands relentless energy in midfield.Boosting the club's physical potential in the middle, along with adding more direct pace up top, are the best ways for Klopp to equip Liverpool to credibly compete for major trophies next season.
