Boko Haram suspects, rescue 1,623 in Borno

The Nigerian Army last night, said 21 suspected Boko Haram elements were killed in a fierce gun battle with troops of Operation Lafiya Dole operating in Borno State. The Army, in a statement by its spokesman, Brigadier-General Sani Usman, added that the troops also rescued a total of 1, 623 people from the captivity of the insurgents. According to Usman the rescued captives were residents of Jawara in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.
