Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldsonreportedly could miss up to a month of action while recovering from a calf injury.Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports passed along an updated timeline Tuesday morning, with sources stating the ailment is expected to sideline the slugger two to four weeks. The team placed him on the 10-day disabled list Friday.Calf problems have plagued Donaldson since spring training. After missing time during the exhibition slate with one calf issue, he left an April 9 clash with the Tampa Bay Rays because of tightness in the muscle. He returned to action as a pinch hitter two days later, but another setback forced him to exit last Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.Last Wednesday,Gregor Chisholmof MLB.com noted the infielder said the problem is unrelated to the one he dealt with during the spring."This is a completely different spot on my calf," Donaldson said. "My calf is a lot better today than it was just yesterday."Alas, the latest recurrence of calf pain leaves the struggling Blue Jays in a tough spot. They are already in danger of letting the season slip away following a 2-10 start in the tough American League East, but rushing back one of their best hitters could lead to the injury lingering all year.Chris Coghlan figures to receive a lion's share of the playing time at third until Donaldson is clear to return. Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney could also see some spot starts, but the drop-off in offensive production from the position will be massive given the 2015 AL MVP's upside. For more news, rumors and related stories about Josh Donaldson, the Toronto Blue Jays and Major League Baseball, check out the MLB and Blue Jays streams on Bleacher Report's app.
