Real Madrid have reportedly urged Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to make a quick decision about his future or else risk seeing Los Blancos pursue Chelsea's No. 1 Thibaut Courtois instead.A report from Spanish source Diario Gol (h/t James Walters of the Daily Star) has revealed how Los Merengues want former Atletico Madrid ace De Gea to make his mind up about returning to the Spanish capital: "Real want a decision from De Gea before they turn to their Plan B - Thibaut Courtois."De Gea has long been linked with moving to the Santiago Bernabeu. In fact, a report from Joe Bernstein of the Mail on Sundayreported how Spain's premier stopper remains "determined not to let his dream move back to Madrid disappear for a second time and has made it clear to Jose Mourinho he wants to be allowed to leave Old Trafford."However, Bernstein's report significantly also detailed how highly Chelsea 'keeper Courtois is regarded by the 11-time European champions: "Courtois has edged ahead of his United rival in the affections of Real manager Zinedine Zidane, with Chelsea willing to do business provided they can land striker Alvaro Morata from the Bernabeu."There is no denying Courtois is an outstanding stopper, maybe the best in the game currently. Even so, it's easy to believe the Real hierarchy may prefer to ultimately seal a deal to sign De Gea.After all, such a deal would give Spain's most successful club one of the country's leading talents. Underpinning global stars with the best domestic players was once the backbone of Los Blancos' success. At one time, Real won La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League with world-renowned names like Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane playing alongside Spain internationals Fernando Hierro, Raul, Fernando Morientes and Iker Casillas. However, bitter rivals Barcelona have overtaken Real when it came to building with the best Spain has to offer. Top internationals such as Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta helped Barca dominate alongside South American standouts Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.Of course, Los Merengues still have some of the best Spanish players, particularly centre-back Sergio Ramos, energetic right-back Dani Carvajal and creative schemer Isco.Adding De Gea to replace Keylor Navas between the posts would not only give Real another galactico. It would also give them the best Spanish 'keeper of his generation.Marcelo Linked with Return to BrazilReal left-back Marcelo continues to be linked with a possible move to Brazilian club Botafogo. The team has even set aside a squad number for the defender, per the club's official Twitter account (h/t Goal.com): "A botafoguense is always welcome here."The same Goal report also cited a recent interview Marcelo gave toGloboesporte, during which he expressed a desire to play for Botafogo: "Id love to play for Botafogo one day, it would be incredible."While handing out a squad number is no indicator former Fluminense man Marcelo is on the move back to Brazil, a return to his homeland seems likely at some point. The 28-year-old has won every major honour during his time at Real.Marcelo remains a lethal attacking outlet going forward, and while he's often critiqued for a lack of defensive nous, his performances in this area have improved over the years.Full-backs with Marcelo's complete range of skills are rare. So it would make sense for Los Blancos to persuade the defender to delay any potential return to Brazil.Marcelo is still under contract until 2020, and an extension has been mooted, per the reports. It makes sense for Real to prolong the stay of one of the club's core players.
