And their products are just as good as, if not better than, the bedding you'll find in high-end department stores.I've tried sheets from five popular bedding startups in the past year. The latest set I've used is from an online-only company headquarteredin Hoboken, New Jersey called Jefferson Lane. It's doing a lot of the same things as its competitors (cutting out the middleman, producing 100% organic cotton sheets in Fair Trade-certified factories, offering risk-free 45-night trials) for a similar price (you'll spend $175-$190 for a queen-sized sheet set). What sets Jefferson Lane apart from other bedding startups is its simple and clean design aesthetic and humble selection. There are only four sheet styles to choose from: cloud grey, pure white, grey stitch on white, or white stitch on grey. And there's only one duvet cover to buy: pure white. By simplifying its selection to only a couple of solid colors and minimalist designs, Jefferson Lane makes choosing what to buy a breeze. There's no way for customers to get overwhelmed at Jefferson Lane. For those who like having lots of options, that's going to be annoying; and for them I'd suggest checking out Brooklinen or Parachute for a wider selection of colors and patterns for comparable prices. But for those who'd rather someone just choose what's best for them and be done with it, Jefferson Lane is a haven for indecisive customers and anyone who doesn't know a lot about bedding.I'm a big fan of plain white sheetsand think everyone should owna set of them. You just can't go wrong with a classic, all-white bed. I stay away fromcrazy patterns or prints, even if Ilove them, because they tend todate quickly and can also feel childish.I really like the aesthetics of Jefferson Lane's plain whitesheets, especially the stitchedset. I think they would really look great in anybedroom. Aesthetics aside, I found them to be just as soft as other organic cotton sheets I've tried. And I'm sure they'll continue to get softer the more times I wash them. I also really liked the deep corners of the fitted sheet; they prevented it from creeping up off the mattress and me from having to readjust it, which is something that really annoys me as the primary bed-maker in my household.Below are the specifications for Jefferson Lane's sheet sets according to its website:Sheet set includes: one flat sheet, one fitted sheet and two pillowcasesOptimal 300 thread count sateen weave is guaranteed to provide a better sleepexperience with each useMade from 100% organic single-ply, long staple cotton, sourced andwoven in IndiaFitted sheet features a 16" deep pocket that accommodates/fits most mattressesJefferson Lane is another excellent organic cotton bedding option that wantsto help you eliminate chemicals from your household while also looking and feeling great. Even if the company decides to keep its product line as small as it is right now, I see a lot of value in owning plain white or grey sheets. They're sheetsthat will last you for years to come, because they're not ones you are going to outgrow, and they complement any space and design aesthetic.Better yet,if you donate your gently used bedding to a charity of your choice, you can email Jefferson Lanethe receipt and enjoy a 10% discount on your purchase as a thank you.Jefferson Lane's 100% organic cotton bedding is available for twin/twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king-sized mattresses.DON'T MISS:This bedding startup's pillows are some of the best I've used, and they're worth every pennySEE ALSO:I finally tried the slipper I've been seeing ads for all over Facebook, and I loved itJoin the conversation about this story
