Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Douglas Costa and Bruma

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 20 Apr 2017

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with wingers as we head toward the end of the end of the 2016-17 season, with Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa and Galatasaray's Bruma the latest wide men said to have caught the eye of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.According to Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror, Costa's contract situation makes him a prime target. The 26-year-old hasn't made a secret of the fact he's not happy in Bavaria, telling reporters talks with other clubs are already ongoing:I cannot comment on names, there are contacts with teams from England, Spain and also France. But we respect Bayern.First we want to get together with them and look at what they think of it, and then we make a decision.I am still under contract with FC Bayern until 2020, I have three more years. Of course, football is a business, Bayern simply has to accept a bid and the others pay what they have to pay.Bayern president Uli Hoeness has also addressed the situation, telling reporters he believes the Brazilian is angling for an improved contract.Costa was a hit under former manager Pep Guardiola last season, but he hasn't featured as much under successorCarlo Ancelotti. The fact he's not an automatic starter appears to be the basis of the saga between player and club.Per the report, Costa could be available for a sum of about 30 million, which would be relatively cheap for a player who is still in his prime, is on a long-term contract and cost Bayern slightly less in 2015, per ESPN FC.Here's a look at some of his highlights:Costa could move during the summer, but his obvious quality and the fact he's an established star at a world-class team means he's likely to aim higher than Spurs. Most top clubs in the Premier League and elsewhere would love to add the Brazilian, so Spurs would be at a disadvantage if more elite clubs got involved.A cheaperand perhaps more realisticoption would be Bruma, theGalatasaraywinger who has asked the Turkish club for a significant raise, per the Sun's Anthony Chapman.Per the report, Galatasaray have no intention of meeting his demands, opening the door for a Premier League move. With the 22-year-old's contract set to expire next season, he could be available for just 9 million.Bruma has long been touted as a top talent and finally seemed to make good on his vast potential at the start of this season. Here's a look at some of his highlights:The speedy trickster spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad, where he became a little less reliant on his dribbling and more efficient with his passing. He starred during pre-season for Galatasaray and has been solid over the past few months, even if he still hasn't lived up to his massive hype. For 9 million, Bruma could be a worthy gamble for Spurs. The former Sporting CP man has all the tools to be a world-class winger, and if he learns to be more patient and less selfish, he could be one of the most dangerous weapons in the Premier League.
