Cowboys Select Taco Charlton in 2017 NFL Draft, Twitter Can't Control Itself

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 28 Apr 2017

The Dallas Cowboysselected Taco Charlton with the No. 28 pick of the draft, adding a major playmaker to the front seven.Pro Football Focus highlighted Charlton's pass-rushing ability:Fox Sports' Skip Bayless was satisfied with the selection:Charlton already appears to be a fan favorite in Dallas, courtesy of the team's Twitter account:Charlton's teammate, Jabrill Peppers, congratulated him on Twitter:Football writer Ed Werder likes the fit of Charlton in the Cowboys defense:Here's how others reacted to the pick:Charlton was first-team All-Big Ten his senior year at Michigan, totaling 40 tackles, including 13.5 for loss, plus 10 sacks. As PFF College Football noted, he was one of the top pass-rushers in the country:This was despite not being completely healthy during the season, per Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press:This is a scary thought for opposing offensive linemen trying to contain him when he is 100 percent. The 6'6", 277-pound pass-rusher has great size for the position with the length and athleticism necessary to be an impact player in the NFL. He posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.92 seconds at the combine, plus a vertical jump of 33 inches and a broad jump of 116 inches. He also used the combine to discuss his own ability, per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post:One of the bigger question marks is whether he can be a consistent producer.Charlton stepped up in the clutch against Ohio State, totaling 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss and nine tackles overall in the Wolverines' biggest game of the season. He also had a strong showing against Florida State in the Orange Bowl. However, he also had a few quiet games where he barely made an impact. The Cowboysare clearly focusing on the upside and will hope the talent and past performances will help turn Charlton into a star in the NFL.
