Kate Henshaw, friends return N8m raised for sick boy to donors following disagreement with family

Published by Kemi Filani on Thu, 04 May 2017

Is this going to be another "Mayowa case"''' Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, says she and her friends have made arrangement to return the funds raised for Michael Alvez, a two-year-old boy born with an ulcerous growth in the face. The actress also asked Nigerians to stop paying into an account opened for the victim's treatment, following disagreements with the family over Michael's welfare. This comes after the family's lawyer ordered an audit of the funds raised be presented to them. They claim Kate Henshaw in partnership with Project Alert promised to fly Micheal abroad but failed.Kate wrote on Instagram I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to EVERYONE who gave. May God reward your labour of love. The good you have sown will return a hundred fold.I thank you for trusting me and answering when I called on your help................PLEASE STOP IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF MONIES INTO THAT ACCOUNT AS WE WILL BE MAKING REFUNDS TO MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC..................I will put out the modalities in my next video.I WILL NOT HAVE MY NAME AND INTEGRITY SMEARED BY THE GREED OF ANYONE..Thank you and God blessAccording to a letter the family lawyer wrote to the Lagos State Attorney General, dated February 21, 2017, stated that the family also felt betrayed by Project Alert after some government officials attempted to withdraw Michael from LUTH for onward transfer to a motherless baby's homeHe noted in the letter that the family was disappointed that the two-year-old was not flown out for treatment as promised by the group. He said, 'We are not demanding the money from them. We only asked them to give an account and once account is given, they can send the medical bill directly to the hospital in India where the boy will be taken to.'Also, there are discrepancies in the money being declared by the NGO. The money was taken on behalf of Michael, so nobody has the right to sit on it. And yes, the mother is not of sound mind. Our client has been the one taking care of her (Mary's) two children. Before the NGO took over, she has been contributing to the medical care of the baby.'Project Alert, however, denied that it promised to fly the child abroad for treatment. Part 1: From the Just concluded press conference on the Medical Intervention for Baby Michael in the past ONE YEAR PLUS I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to EVERYONE who gave. If I say my heart is not pained, I would be lying! I have a daughter and I know the pain I would feel if she was in the condition Baby Michael was.. Sadly greed and avarice took over..
