Billy Preston Out vs. Kentucky After Single-Car Accident; Kansas to Investigate

Kansas star freshman Billy Preston will not play in Tuesday's game against Kentucky due to an internal investigation following a car accident.The team released a full statement from head coach Bill Self:It appears while there were no injuries from the single-car accident, there are questions about where Preston acquired the car. The team is hoping to find a "clearer financial picture" before allowing him to play for the team.The freshman was also held out of the Jayhawks' first game of the season after missing curfew as well as skipping a class, per Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star.Although he is yet to appear in a regular-season game, he averaged 11 points in the team's three exhibition contests.Preston is a game-changing talent when on the floor as a power forward who can score from anywhere. He was considered a 5-star recruit and the No. 20 overall player in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.Unfortunately, it's unclear when he will be able to make his Kansas debut. The team's next game is Friday against South Dakota State, but there is no timetable for a resolution in the current situation.The Jayhawks will be undersized without Preston against Kentucky, as Udoka Azubuike and Mitch Lightfoot represent the only true bigs remaining on the roster.
