Legendary actor Samanja struck by glaucoma, gets two lifelines

When Weekly Trust approached Alhaji Usman Baba Pategi, popular actor best-known for his role as Samanja in the popular TV series at his Kabala Costain residence for an interview on his deteriorating sight last December, he cried for help, saying he can no longer walk without a guide. In that interview, he spoke on his long battle with glaucoma which has almost ridden him of his sight. Samanja, a father of 16, said he was in India twice for surgery and that he needs about 1.5 million naira to go back for the last phase at the Asian-Columbia Hospital in India.
