Jadeveon Clowney Calls Blake Bortles 'Trash' After Jaguars' Win vs. Texans

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 18 Dec 2017

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles torched the Houston Texans during a 45-7 victory Sunday, but his performance apparently wasn't enough to impress linebacker Jadeveon Clowney.Clowney said Bortles is "trash" when he was asked if the signal-caller has improved, per Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.Bortles completed 21 of 29 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the blowout win.The Jaguars are now 10-4 and firmly in the race for a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs largely because of their stout defense, but Bortles has demonstrated vast improvement the past few games despite Clowney's insistence otherwise. He threw for 309 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions on Dec. 3 in a win over the Indianapolis Colts and followed up with 268 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in a win over the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 10 before Sunday's performance. Before this three-game stretch, the Central Florida product had thrown more than one touchdown just one time all season (a September win against the Baltimore Ravens) and had two multi-interception games and eight picks on the year. The numbers may not mean much to Clowney and the 4-10 Texans, who lost to Bortles both times they faced him this season, but the Jaguars are a legitimate Super Bowl threat if their quarterback continues to play at such an elevated level considering their defense entered Sunday's slate first in the league in points allowed per game.
