Washington Redskins: Vita Vea, DT, WashingtonIf Kirk Cousins walks in free agency, this pick likely changes to a quarterback.But for the time being, we need to make a selection that helps the Redskins' problematic run defense.Enter Washington defensive tackle Vita Vea,who is an interior wrecking ball of the highest order.A 6'5", 340-pound run-stuffer, Vea piled up 15.0 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks over three seasons at Washington as he consistently penetrated opposing offensive lines and burst his way into the backfield.But just because Vea is a mauler inside doesn't mean he's a plodder."He runs as fast as linebackers and cuts as quick as running backs. He races skill players. He has a 4.8 40-yard dash time," ESPN.com's Edward Aschoff wrote. "Strapped with a Catapult GPS monitoring device, Vea was supposedly clocked running between 19 and 21 mph while chasing down a screen play against USC last season."At Vea's size, athletes of that caliber don't come around often.And with the Redskins in desperate need of reinforcements after opponents ripped them for 134.1 yards per game on the ground in 2017, it will be hard to pass up on that combination of size and speed.
