8 Pitt Basketball Players Reportedly Transferring After Kevin Stallings Fired

Eight Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball players will reportedly be given permission to transfer Friday, according to ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman.Per Goodman, senior Ryan Luther, junior Malik Ellison, sophomore Kene Chukwuka and freshmen Parker Stewart, Marcus Carr, Khameron Davis, Terrell Brown and Shamiel Stevenson are the players who asked for their release.The news comes on the heels of Pitt firing head coach Kevin Stallings last week.Pittsburgh went 8-24 under Stallings this season, including an 0-19 mark in the ACC after going 8-5 in non-conference play.In his first season at the helm for Pitt in 2016-17, the Panthers went 16-17 with a 4-14 mark in the conference.Stallings previously spent 17 seasons at Vanderbilt,makingthe NCAA tournament six times.He was preceded at Pitt by Jamie Dixon, who went 328-123 in 13 seasons and reached the NCAA tournament 11 times.Stallings put his stamp on the program entering the 2017-18 campaign, as he brought in 11 new players, according to ESPN.com'sGoodman and Jeff Borzello.With eight players set to leave and no new head coach in place, Pittsburgh is about to undergo yet another major transition on the heels of a long and successful tenure with Dixon, who left to coach his alma mater, TCU.
