"How To Tell A Dominant, Overbearing Or Rude Coworker To Shut Up At Work"

Published by Nairaland on Sat, 17 Mar 2018

So everyday you wake up to go to work you always think of that idiot at work who isn't your boss but makes life a living hell for you. im here to tell you today that your prayer has been answered and hopefully after reading this youll have the courage to say 'shut the f**k up' to that dominant colleague of yours.

who is a dominant co-worker' really, are you asking me that question' okay let me answer you; A dominant person has this attribute that helps the company to move forward but they tend to use this energy to bring fellow co-worker down. their attribute can consist of working at a fast pace, talking bluntly, cutting in other peoples conversation, they take every little advantage they see to command or have authority over their fellow worker. They are bold, confident and DEFINATELY NOT YOUR BOSS!!

SORRY I ACCIDENTLY PUBLISHED IT WHILE TYPING ILL KEEP TYPING THE REST KEEP ON READING......

So my question is, do they really know they're overbearing' yes they do 2% of them actually just want to make things get done with immediate effect while the remaining 98% are just there to make life a living hell for you.

So how do you overcome them' well start by recognising that they are not your superiors and definitely not the ones that gave you that job or employed you and make this known to them. For example I have this colleague at work who tries this poo with me and kept telling me to do stuff and commanding me and bossing me around, it got to a point I called him in public and told him 'hello, can you calm down and talk to me like a colleague and not my boss cos you're not' ' he looked at me as though he was mesmerized and still under shock, soo surprised that I had put him in that position of inconvenience.

Question them. that would put them in their place and lets them know that they don't have the final say. make them know that they cant have thing their way . ask them why' what' who said that' why should I' can you stop im still talking' they'll begin to realise that they have no power over you or no longer be able to put you in their small box. I've tried this tips and they surprisingly work . I just love to see the expressions on their face when I fire back at them.

Stop them So you're in a meeting an this dude keeps interrupting you as you're giving a brief, you have to react quickly but in a polite way so that you wont create an awkward environment for yourself. tell him or her ' Tom I know you've done this project before but its my turn now and I will appreciate it if you keep quiet and let me deliver what i'm here for , stop interrupting me. I think this message is clear. doing this gaining your courage back and also freedom.

Remember that when you're doing this you have to be prepared to take up any responsibility that comes after it. don't let anyone depress you at work or make life unbearable for you. life troubles is enough! know your human rights and don't let anyone weigh you down .

ojomotomi.com
