Eagles will bounce back, says Rohr

Published by The Nation on Thu, 29 Mar 2018

Gernot Rohr has said the Super Eagles have picked up lessons from the 2-0 loss to Serbia and will bounce back in time for the World Cup.The Eagles lost to fellow World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday night in London courtesy of two second-half goals by Aleksandar Metrovic. It was a dress rehearsal for their opening Group D match against Croatia, which plays a similar style of football with the Serbs.Rohr commended the boys and urged them not to drop their heads because no football team in the world wins all their games, Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye said. The coach told the team to learn from this defeat and not sulk, but rather go back to their various clubs and keep fighting. He said what was most important after such a loss is how you react, he said we have to bounce back. The coach reminded the boys they had not done badly as a team and what had happened should be left in the past. He said it was a game and they had done their part and should forget the rest. We have three more friendly matches to play before the World Cup proper. Ours is to take the positives from the Serbia game, study them critically and implement. The Serbia loss was only the second in 14 games for the Eagles under Rohr. Contracted 20 months ago as Eagles coach, Rohr has won eight matches and drawn four. The post Eagles will bounce back, says Rohr appeared first on The Nation Nigeria.
