Today, more parents are choosing gender-neutral baby names for their children.The inspiration for the names can come from places, family surnames, or popular culture.Gender-neutral names give children the freedom to be gender-fluid and avoid sexism based on their names.Of course, any name can be "gender-neutral" if you want it to be, but these are some of the ones that new parents swear by.In 1958, the most popular baby girl and boy names were "Mary" and "Michael," respectively. Back then, parents traditionally stuck to gender-specific names for their children. But 60 years later, things have changed significantly in the baby naming game. When it comes to baby names today, the possibilities are endless. New parents take their inspiration from nature, favorite places, and even pop culture. But one of the biggest modern differences in baby naming is that todays parents are more likely to reject the idea of stereotypical gender-specific names. Although some parents choose names like "River," "Dallas," and "Skylar" simply for the cool factor, others hope to give their children the freedom to be gender-fluid in society and avoid being stereotyped in society, according to the New York Post.
