The rising incidence of collapsing buildings has become a disturbing trend. Many of the structures fail at construction stage; but some collapse when fully occupied, resulting in fatalities. The frequency of such failures has prompted the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) to propose the death penalty for owners of such properties.
