A surgeon who once appeared on a reality TV show and his girlfriend were charged last week with raping one woman and sexually assaulting another, the Orange County district attorney's office said.Prosecutors have received more than 50 calls and have leads to at least 12 new potential victims.Investigators said there could be"hundreds" more victims of the couple. The district attorney saidGrant Robicheaux and Cerissa Riley used "good looks and charm to lower the inhibitions of their potential prey."Police have leads to at least 12 potential new victims of asurgeon who was once featured in a reality TV dating show and his girlfriend, who were charged last week withdrugging and sexually assaulting two women.Grant Robicheaux and girlfriend Cerissa Riley were arrested on September 12 andchargedwith rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, and other crimes, Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said. The district attorney's office said the pair attacked two women in 2016, and it suspected there could be "hundreds" more victims.Experts are going through "thousands and thousands of videos and images on Robicheaux's phone, many also including Riley," prosecutors said.In a news conference on Friday, Rackauckas said that his office had received over 50 calls over the previous few days. There were over a dozen credible leads to potential victims, he said.He urged more women to come forward and promised to safeguard the identities of those who did so.The investigation has now spread to several states,Rackauckas said. He believes the pair met women on dating apps like Tinder and Bumble, as well as targeted women at bars, parties, and festivals.Robicheaux is a surgeon and once appeared on Bravo's discontinued reality show "Online Dating Rituals of the American Male."Rackauckas said that the thousands of photos and videos onRobicheaux's phoneshowed women who "appear to be highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist, and they're barely responsive to the defendant's sexual advances."He said that the pair were likely to have used their"good looks and charm to lower the inhibitions of their potential prey."We tend to trust doctors who take an oath to do no harm. The second defendant being a female is key. A woman purporting to be his girlfriend clearly played a significant role in disarming the victims, making them feel comfortable and safe."The pair's arraignment is due to take place October 25.The maximum sentence for Robicheaux is 40 years in state prison and the maximum sentence for Riley is 30 years and eight months, according to the DA's office.Join the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: Why horseshoe crab blood is so expensive
