Check out the 11 ankle boots we swear by below:Everlane Day Boot$225, available at EverlaneThese boots have a walkable stacked heel, buttery soft leather that fits like a glove, and required zero break-in time. They're my default choice for days where I want to dress up a bit without sacrificing comfort. I've worn them countless times on my 20-minute walk to and from the subway, home from weekend nights mostly spent standing in bars, and through three-hour-long concerts without a single complaint.I was concerned about the aesthetic of the short, ankle-length upper, but the thin Italian leather is tapered enough by nature to avoid the pitfall of looking clunky or unflatteringinstead, it and the center seam combine for a noticeably light, feminine aesthetic. The covered side zipper also helps with the illusion of a slim, unbroken silhouette.I ordered my true size (9) and was glad I did. After a few wears, the leather started to mold to my feet and socks become easier to slip inside. If you have $225 laying around and like the look of them, you're going to thank yourself for getting a pair. Mara Leighton, Insider Picks reporterMarc Fisher LTD Yale Chelsea Bootie$179, available at Marc FisherMarc Fisher LTD's Yale Chelsea Bootie is my all-time favorite ankle boot. It's comfortable and fashion-forward thanks to its low block heel and dramatic pointy toe with a subtle gunmetal trim. You can pick up a pair in smooth black leather, rich black suede, glossy black patent leather, and seven other colors, for one third of the price of similar-looking boots, such as the $560 Acne Studios Jersen Leather Ankle Boots, which is a pretty fantastic deal if you're looking for high style on a budget. Elastic side panels relax the 4.5-inch shaft of these boots so they're easy to put on and take off. The panels also increase the flexibility of the boot so that it moves with the natural motion of your feet when you walk. I can easily put in a 12-hour day in these boots with absolutely no pain or discomfort. I was initially concerned that the boot's pointy toe would result in a narrow fit, but that wasn't the case for me. The boots fit true to size and had no painful break-in period. Ellen Hoffman, Insider Picks senior editorASOS DESIGN Aura Leather Chelsea Ankle Boots$60, available at ASOSThis is a classic Chelsea boot with elastic side panels and back tabs that make it easy to slip on and off your foot. Its 1-inch heel is low to the ground, making it the perfect height for longer walks, and reinforced with rubber for extra traction. Even though ASOS doesnt recommend these boots for wet weather, last year I found myself reaching for them on bleeker winter days that didnt require full-on snow boots. The leather is also very soft and malleable right out of the box, which is, as far as I'm concerned, pretty awesome for only $60.
