Encomiums were, on Friday, showered on the first President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Oba Isaac Babalola Akinyele, at an event to mark his 50th memorial anniversary.Speaking at the event, which featured a public lecture, pioneer Vice Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Professor Olubunmi Oshun, noted that the late Akinyele was exemplary in faith and character.Held at Christ Apostolic Church, Missionary Headquarters, Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, the guest speaker, who reflected on Oba Akinyele's life and times, said that Oba Akinyele chose the path of apostolic simplicity, fellowship, purity and faith.'He was an apostle for peace who showcased audacity of faith. He refused the allurement of power, position and wealth. He was firm, he did not abuse authority,' Oshun said.Professor Oshun added that Oba Akinyele sought the liberation of Ibadan from old Oyo empire. He emphasised that Akinyele, though connected socially, remained steadfast in the face of corruption and bribery.'He was a man full of integrity, purpose, diligent in service. A man tried and tested with over 50 years in public glare and almost 30 years as leader of the church. He was prayerful, considerate, humble, honest,' Oshun said.Oshun therefore called on people to enulate such remarkable attributes of Oba Akinyele.
