Patronise Local Products, Says Lamido

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state yesterday urged Nigerians to encourage local businesses to encourage producers.Lamido stated this at the symposium organise by state government with the theme: Youth and the Quest for National Unity in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and ProspectsHe said the only way to develop the country is for both the rich and poor to patronise made in Nigeria goods to encourage local producers.The governor said When I took over government in 2007 I convened a Talakawa Summit to listen to the needs and aspirations of the downtrodden on what they want government to do for them."One of the participants told us that as far back as 1975 he could produce shoes that rivalled those made in Italy, Spain but the government and the rich will not patronise him. Another one told us that none of us government officials and the rich patronise made in Nigerian fabrics. The question is how do we want to develop our textile industries and leather industry if we dont patronise our local businesses."
