NCAA Baseball Super Regionals: Best Hitters Remaining in College World Series

Published by Bleacher Report on Wed, 04 Jun 2014

While the 16 best ballclubs are competing in the NCAA baseball super regionals, the 16 best hitters necessarily aren't.Many of the nation's most dangerous baseball players with a bat in their hands are on teams that have been eliminated from the College World Series. However, though some of the best are gone, numerous elite hitters remain in action. Here they are.4. INF Eric Gutierrez, Texas TechThere are larger players left in the College World Series than the 5'10", 190-pound Gutierrez. But few hitters' bats pack more of a punch than his.Gutierrez's 12 home runs rank 18th overall in Division I, making him one of the few best remaining sluggers in the super regionals. His 58 RBI are tied for 15th overall.3.OF Jeff Gardner, LouisvilleNo player in the super regionals hit more RBI than Gardner did this season. He's batted in 67 baserunners, the sixth most in Division I overall. His performance throughout the year earned himLouisville Sluggersecond-team All-American honors and theAmerican Athletic Conference Player of the Year award.2. 2B Jace Conrad, Louisiana-LafayetteConrad has hit the ball at an elite level all season. His ranks seventh with 65 RBI and 30th with a .377 batting average among Division I hitters. As if he wasn't dominant enough, Conrad has heated up even more this postseason. In five regional games, he recorded 11 hits, 10 RBI and two home runs, all while batting .478. It's no wonder why he was afirst-team All-American this year.1. C Max Pentecost, Kennesaw St.Another first-team All-American, Pentecost doesn't finish games without a hit often, only twice in his last 43 starts to be exact. He ranks second in Division I and first among remaining players in batting average, hitting .423 on the season. In mid-March, Pentecost was batting just .304. Then he went on 36-game hit streak. He's also tied for 15th in Division I in RBI with 58.David Daniels is a columnist at Bleacher Report and editor at Wade-O Radio.Follow @TheRealDDaniels
