Re: My heart bleeds because of my children's behaviour

Published by Tribune on Tue, 27 Sep 2011

It is not easy to forgive, but it is good to do so because this will give you joy, peace and acceptance. There is the need for you to go and see your pastor as he would be able to counsel you and also pray along with you, so that God will bestow on you the grace you need to forgive your husband and the father of your children. You should remember that Jesus Christ forgave you all your sins without attaching any condition to it and He is still doing so every day.Your sons are gifts from God; thank God that He gave you children that you can be proud of now. Please, extend the mercy of God to your husband. Obey God's commandments by forgiving him and His blessings will be yours as you would experience the gains of obedience, you will also live long to reap the fruit of your labour over your children. You will also be able to earn their respect and dignity. Please, avoid anything that could lead to rancour between you and your children as this could lead to loneliness in old age.Oyebanji, R.O; 08052045100I will like to add my voice to that of your other teaming readers on this woman's issue.I can really understand the way she feels and I am sure that a lot of people would have told you a lot of things. People won't think twice before telling you to forgive and forget. I can understand her anger. Sincerely, it should be expected and anyone who asks that you forgive and forget is not helping your emotions, because if they were to be in your shoes they would have done the same.I can also understand the feeling of betrayal because your children kept on seeing their father without your knowledge. Whatever you felt or feel is justified and you should be allowed to say what is on your mind and explore your feelings. But I will advise that you take a deep breath and not allow whatever happened or your anger to make you develop high blood pressure or lose your children's friendship and your relationship with God.It is God's commandment that we forgive those who trespass against us as He forgives us; do not let him make you go contrary to God's words. Think of all the good things God did for you, I am sure you believe in Him as this is glaring in your story. God has vindicated you. I am sure if your kids did not turn out well, their father will not want to identify with them, you also will not be proud of them.I want to believe that your husband has enough on his hands and of course God is already asking him some questions. If you refuse to forgive him or give in to your children's request, you will only be reducing his punishment and raising bad blood where it is not supposed to exist.I can assure you that no one reaps where he or she did not sow, do not worry; give everything to God. Let your children have their request, be sure to maintain a good relationship with your children. Do not allow him to build a wall between you and use that as an excuse to be unnecessarily close to them, as he is not worth such sacrifice,Be at peace with your creator and other men, nobody can fool God and because he sees everything we cannot fool Him.Adenrele Betty.
