What Allah says after Ramadan

Published by Tribune on Tue, 27 Sep 2011

"O ye who believe; obey Allah and obey the Messenger and never render your efforts void (in vain)"-Q47:32All praise belongs to Almighty Allah, the one to whom belongs the praise in the beginning and at the end. May He(SWT) continue to be praised for His majesty. Indeed, Allah is great for His bounteous reward for His servants as they completed the Ramadan fasting with the observance of eidul fitri, which is the festival to commemorate the end of Ramadan fast. The Holy Prophet(SAW) spoke the truth when he said; "The fasting person enjoys happiness on two occasions: On the day he (finally) breaks his fasting and when he meets his Lord (Bukhari and Muslims).Verily, Allah is great as the whole world economy received an unparalleled boost as the Muslims celebrated the festival of breaking their one month fasting. This was evident with markets, both local and international, were full to their capacity when the month ran to a close. In the first instance, the concept of Zakatul fitri, which is an act of charity given(in form of grains and food items) to the poor and needies, kept the markets flooded as Muslims faithfuls trooped out to buy these food items in obedience to Allah and his prophet. The sellers of these food items experienced bumper sales and reaped maximum profits. As if that was not enough, other food items such as fish, meat, pepper, onion and other ingridients were purchased in large quantities.Poultry managers could not compare their sales last Monday with that of any other time as women went about with fowls in their hands and imagine the the cocks crowing at the back of every vehicle that passed. Clothing materials, including shoes and belts sellers couldn't meet the demands of their customers as there was no more time to quickly rush back to buy more. Besides, only Allah knows how much the communication network made out of the million calls and text messages the Muslims sent (exchanging pleasantries) wishing one another happy 'eid celebration. The transport sector reaped their annual harvest on land, in the seas and in the air. A blessed month indeed Ramadan was, may Allah make us witness many more of it alive. Ramadan is a month of universal blessing. However, inspite of the great sacrifice made during the just concluded holy month, some so-called Muslims celebrated the 'eid with intoxicants(alcohol and beer) and other illicit acts. To know whether our acts of fasting, charity, prayer and vigils during Ramadan were accepted by Allah(SWT), one should see him or herself still continuing with all those forms of Ibadat after Ramadan. But those who have returned to their old evil practices as dog licks its vommit must know that their efforts have been rendered null and void. Many Muslims have demostrated a complete lack of understanding the real essence of fasting which is to draw us closer to Allah and serve as a training ground for us to a modest life.Allah(SWT) say; " o ye who believe, fear Allah and let every soul have a deep look into what he has sent forward, then fear Allah; for Allah is much aware of what you do" Q59:18.Finally, now that the evil one (shaytan) has been unchained, we should try as much as possible to save our soul from its machination, for verily he is an avowed enemy to us.Allah(SWT) says; "O ye who believe, enter into Islam wholeheartedly and do not follow the footsteps of shaytan; verily he is to you an avowed enemy" Q2:208.
