Oil rig owners visit NPA to ensure excellent service provision

Top executives of Transocean Support Services Nigeria Limited may have paid the management staff of the Nigerian Ports Authority a visit to seek means of ensuring of excellent services in the maintenance of the semi submersible oil rig 'GSF 140' which it brought into the country, last month.The Nigerian Tribune exclusively reported the rig's arrival, now anchored on the Marina waterfront, Lagos, two weeks ago.Company's Operations Manager, Asset/Floater, Mr. Andy Rennie, who said they were happy to bring the rig to Nigeria for the maintenance service rather than go to Cape Town in South Africa or Las Palmas, Mexico because of the distance from Equatorial Guinea and the enormous cost involved in such a long journey, also highlighted that there were already about 150 persons working on board the rig, most of them Nigerians, noting that this no doubt had added credit to the local content policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.Mr. Rennie stated that the semi submersible rig GSF 140 would be in Nigeria for 80 days, and assured that having successfully brought the rig to Nigeria, many more would be brought in quick successions in the future for such maintenance, acknowledging the positive role of Niger dock, located on the Snake Island, in the maintenance of the oil rig 'GSF 140'.In his reaction, the NPA Managing Director, Omar Suleiman, said the organisation was prepared to do whatever was needed not only to ensure the satisfaction of the oil rig owners, but also to ensure that they continue to bring business to Nigeria.
