Corporate social responsibility for SMES

Now, it is important to remind my readers that what I've been writing on for quite some weeks now is on post-business plan issues that should be the focus of SMEs if indeed they desire to succeed and etch their brand name in the minds of the consumer market. In this article, my intention is to let SMEs in the country understand that Corporate Social Responsibility actions/activities should not be limited to multinational or large corporations. Even though CSR is an expensive function and duty of business to society and to the community they operate in, SMEs, as business entities, also have social and ethical responsibilities (besides their traditional economic roles) to dispense to society and their host communities. Like it is generally agreed in CSR literature, social responsibility performance justifies business' licence to operate in the society or community, hence the development of a triple bottom-line of people, planet and profit as the guiding objectives for business.
