Okocha fears for Nigerian football

FORMER Super Eagles captain, Austin Okocha, has pointed out that the state of Nigerian football calls for concern."We are lagging behind as a team and we have not lived up to the expectations of Nigerians in this regard,'' Okocha said in Lagos.''It's not only in the areas of attack, midfield or defence, we have not improved over the years as a team, we are not talking about our players' performance as individuals."As a core football person, I'm worried about our ranking in the world. We are not where we are supposed to be and that situation calls for concern but that is my opinion."Nigeria has the potential to do better than what we are are doing at the moment, we must work harder to improve as a team," Okocha declared."I don't know what they (FIFA) want us to do, we have been winning games.Yes we lost to Argentina but we beat Madagascar. There are a lot of things to be done and I think we will continue to put in our best," Umeh said.
