Nigeria's survival depends on fiscal federalism ' INC

NIGERIA shouldintroduce fiscalfederalism and resource control for rapid development and national unity, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has declared.Speaking through its National Organising Secretary, Mr Charles Ambaiowei, the group affirmed that while the presidency was within the South-South, the ultimate route to enduring national peace and progress was fiscal federalism and resource control.'Niger Delta has given and contributed to Nigeria so much that its lack of development is akin to a virgin who is raped, defiled and abandoned. All dreams and expectations of Niger Delta shall remain palliatives until Nigeria is restructured for true fiscal federalism and economic management on the basis of resource control enshrined under a constitution which is truly enacted by the sovereign Nigerian people,' MrAmbaiowei said.'In fact, this position is the zenith of our expectation from President Goodluck Jonathan and other true patriots who desire that this country remain indivisible and united for common good of all. Otherwise, our disintegration is all too imminent,' the former commissioner in Bayelsa State said.While blaming the problem on what he called the unlearnt lesson of 2005 National Political Reform Conference, the organising secretary, however, appealed to Nigerians to give their full cooperation to President Jonathan, as he had good intention of transforming the nation for good.
