Mining: FG set to make electronic geophysical data available

The Federal Government has said it isready to make geophysical data available electronically, to attract both local and foreign investors towards the development of the mining industry of the country.The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr Musa Mohammed Sada, made the disclosure while receiving the final report from the Ministerial Committee on the Dissemination of Nigeria's Geophysical Data.Sada said he inaugurated the committee to address the challenge of inaccessibility of investors to the electronic geophysical data.The minister thanked the committee for the timely submission of the report and assured that its recommendations would be looked into immediately for implementation, towards the development of the mining industry in Nigeria.He noted that once the geophysical data was made available in electronic form, both local and foreign investors would not have to travel down to offices in the ministry and its agencies to get such investment information before they decided on what to do.Sada added that once that became operational, a lot of spiral activities that would facilitate the development of the mining sector would spring up.
