Come home and invest in agric, Osun gov urges indigenes in Kano

THE Osun State governor, Mr Raufu Aregbesola, has called on the indigenes of Osun State living in Kano State, not to forget their respective homes, urging them to come home and invest in agriculture to enable the state become food basket of the South-West states.Governor Aregbesola, however, assured them of land to cultivate their farm produce, adding that his government would provide adequate land at a cheaper rate.Speaking on behalf of Governor Aregbesola at Osun Day Launching celebration in Kano, recently, Honourable Bisi Oyo, chairman, Aregbesola Campaign Organisation, disclosed that it was time for them to go back home and establish cottage farms.He hinted that the major priority of Aregbesola's administration was to make life meaningful for the entire citizens of the state wherever they were residing.'The governor is set to provide necessary facilities that will make you self-reliant by giving you land and other amenities that will make your farming easy.'He noted that the programme, called Osun State Rural Empowerment Programme (OREP), would make the people of the state feed states like Lagos with produce which would be transported to a ready made market in Lagos.He further added that, with this venture, the state would realise revenue from the agriculture, and this would also provide employment for those who are yet to be gainfully employed in the state.Speaking on the occasion, the Special Adviser on Intercommunity Relations to Kano State governor, Alhaji Abdulateef Abdulsalam, who represented Governor Musa Kwankwaso, commended the Osun State community residents in the state for their support to his administration, especially their contributions to the success of his election during the last general election.
