91 traffic offenders arraigned in Ibadan

No fewer than 91 traffic offenders were arraigned before a Mobile Court in Ibadan, Oyo State for various traffic offences.Magistrate R.A Ebeloku-Mustapha, who presided over the court, said that the motorists were arraigned for violating traffic rules and regulations.She said that the offenders were arrested by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Egbeda Unit Command for non-compliance with traffic rules which include non-use of seat belt while driving, crash helmet violation, over speeding, over loading, making phone calls while on the wheel among others.She said that 90 traffic offenders were convicted with fines option while only one was discharged and cautioned.Also speaking, the FRSC Assistant Corps Commander Akinlade Abiodun said that the one-week special patrol was to improve on the record on low crashes on the major roads in the country.He explained that as a result of the positive results from the past patrols, the management of the FRSC decided to ensure that there was less crashes and deaths on the roads before the end of the year.According to him, during the exercise, 605 traffic offenders were booked for various offences.He warned motorists to desist from violating traffic rules and regulations and ensure safer roads and fuller lives.
