Igarra community to honour council boss over road construction, employment

Indigenes of Igarra,the administrative headquarters of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, are planning an award for the Council Chairman, Hon. Anselm Agbabi, who hails from Lampese community as a sign of appreciation to the council boss for rehabilitating major roads in the community.The decision was taken during the last month ABA festival in Igarra, where most of the indigenes from Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja and Kaduna, when it was discovered that so much had been achieved in area of infrastructural development in the community, courtesy of the governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the Council Chairman, Anselm Agbabi who rehabilitated the full stretch of Momodu Ajayi Road, Market Junction to the Expressway, Okpe Junction to the Expressway and Idiba Street; where the Otaru of Igarra's palace is located.An indigene and one of Mr Asishana Amana, who lives in Lagos, said even those at home were full of appreciation for this good manners and gesture of the chairman, making the community to decide to reciprocate the good work with an award of honour for the council boss.Mr Asishana Amana said the developmental effort was ''wonderful as we are all glad that the process of change has started and everybody can feel it. There is fresh air now because a silent revolution is going on. I think Governor Oshiomhole is at the heart of this because of his desire to change the old order and make governance more attractive by making the people the target of his achievements.''He said the council chairman has not disappointed the trust reposed on him by the governor to lead, adding that Akoko-Edo as an agrarian place with challenges compounded by the inactivity of the past governments.This year's edition, for the first time in the 222 years of the festival, had the state governor in attendance where he urged the various communities in the state to use their rich cultures as instruments for unity and division.
