Give useful information to security agents, Oyo residents told

THE People of Oyo State have been advised to give useful information to the law enforcement agents in order to curb the waves of crime and violence that are rampant everyday in our community.The chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Iyaganku Police Division, Ibadan, Oyo State, Ahaji Are Tajudeen Karonwi gave this advise recently during a-get-together party organised in honour of former Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Iyaganku, Mr Teslim Ogunmefun, who retired from the police service recently.Alhaji Karonwi commended the retired police officer for his immeasurable contributions to maintaining peace and security in his domain, and for his usual cordial relationship between the association, member and the police command during his tenure.Also, speaking at the event, the chairman, Area Command, Police Community Relations Committee, Chief Gbenga Adegbesan (JP), urged residents in each community to always complement the efforts of policemen that are keeping vigil by reporting any suspicious person or movement to policemen, adding that the criminals are living within community and giving essential information about them to the law enforcement agent will definitely expose them and reduces the tides of cirminality drastically in our community.He applauded Mr Ogunmefun for being a brave man who demonstrated excellent virtues while in service, describing him as 'honest, God fearing, faithful and a disciplined man who always pursued peace and security among the people in his domain.The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Iyaganku Division, SP Agboola Abiodun, charged each community to form vigilance group in collaboration with police command in order to stem down the rate of crime and violence in the community, adding that cordial relationship should exist between policemen and the community.While responding, Mr Ogunmefun said that community policing must be maintained, 'it is an indispensable way of keeping our community free of crime and hoodlums,' adding that every member of the society must see to the security of the environment and also see policemen as their friends.
