Rainstorm destroys 56 houses, N15m foodstuff in Ankpa

Rainstorm has destroyed 56 houses and foodstuff valued at over N15 million in Ankpa in Kogi State.Alhaji Abdullahi Bako, a director in Ankpa Local Council, disclosed this recently in Ankpa, when a special committee set up by the Kogi State government to assess the extent of damage by the two-hour down pour, visited the area.Bako said the storm, which occurred last Saturday, affected over 1,000 residents, especially those living on Otukpo road, former Eje Palace, the township stadium, Government Lodge and Owelle area of the town.He said the storm also destroyed the Power Holding Company of Nigeria's installations, and that the area had been in darkness since then.
