Oyo inaugurates body for school tourney

AS part of plans to resuscitate football at the grassroots level, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has inaugurated an 11-man committee for the State Governor's Cup for Secondary Schools.Lam-Adesina charged the committee to be more proactive, saying that the idea behind the tourney was to re-awaken sports in schools across the state: 'Our plan is to ensure that the state becomes the Mecca of sports for others and thiscan be done if we encourage grassroots football development,' he said.'This explains why we are focusing on schools so that the youth can have a sense of belonging in this administration.'The competition is expected to kick off soon. The committee has as chairperson the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, J.K. Akintunde.
