Akppabio Inaugurates Local Govt Transition Committee Chairmen

GOVERNOR Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom has inaugurated local government transition committee chairmen with the charge to contribute their quotas to the present development effort of the state government.Swore ' in were 31 chairmen and 186 members ofthe 31 Local Government Transition Committees. The out-gone 31 local government councils in the state were constituted three years ago and were dissolved on Monday, September 26, following the completion of additional three months tenure extension by the State House of Assembly on request of the State Government.Akpabio described the local government as an important level of government and closest to the people, noting ''since government is about the people the place of the local government in the nation's political configuration offers the platform for assessing the impact of government in the fulfillment of the social contract between the government and the people.
