London 2012 Olympics qualifier: Maigari allays fears on Dream Team

THE Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has pledged that Nigeria would field a strong team for the mini London 2012 football play-off scheduled for November in Egypt.The mini-tournament is not on FIFA free days and there are fears that Dream Team V will fall short of its regulars in the games of Group B where they tussle with Morocco, Senegal and Algeria.''We shall present a solid team,'' pledges Aminu Maigari, President, NFF.''Our scouts in Europe have told us of some talent who can be available for us during the tournament,'' said Maigari.He debunked the story that the NFF had mandated U-23 coach, Austin Eguavoen to concentrate fully on the home based players.''Of course, there are home based players for the coaching crew to pick from and Eguavoen will soon embark on a trip to Europe to talk with managers and directors of the teams of our players so that they could be released for the tournament.''The Dream Team will open against the North Africans on November 27. Three days later, they will face West African neighbours Senegal before rounding up with another northern test against Algeria. The tournament will be held in Egypt from November 26 to December 10.
