Wydad halts Enyimba's unbeaten run

DESPITE defending well for most part of the 90 minutes, Nigeria's CAF Champions League hopefuls, Enyimba FC of Aba conceeded a late goal to lose 0-1 to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in a first leg semi-final match played on Saturday night.Goalkeeper Godwin Paul put up an inspiring performance in the encounter but was unfotunately responsible for the Moroccans only goal to give Wydad a deserved win.The homers had a filled day terrorising the Nigerians from the beginning to the end but poor finishing, stout defensive display by the Peoples Elephants and a good performance by Paul denied them of goals.However, Beninoise international, Pasacl Angan scored through a header in the 89th minute when the home team had virtually given up hope of cracking open a brave Nigerian defence when they were awarded an 89th-minute free kick.Goalkeeper Godwin misjudged the kick and Angan nodded home to send the vociferous home fans into ectasy.Godwin, who committed a rare blunder to gift Heartland victory in the Nigerian FA Cup final last weekend, was lucky not to be sent off a minute after the goal when he handled outside the box.
