The Atiya of Itiya inObokun LocalGovernment Area of Osun State, Oba Julius Adelakun Ayodele-Arinkin has advised both the Federal and state governments to use mass employment of youths in the country as a way of eradicating recurring crimes across the nation.Atiya, while speaking with Community News recently, said that, youths of today were full of energy and if not well directed, could be used for any form of negativity, adding that government should know that youth development is a worthy task. His words, 'the government should be more sensitive to the issue of youths, by creating the enabling environment for them so that they can be good leaders of tomorrow.'The traditional ruler said further that, 'most of our youths are gradually shifting away from their original culture, the tradition of our land and the rich ways of life of our fore fathers is gradually being eroded by civilisation. We must bring back memories, culture and value of our fathers, for us to lead them through and so that, they too can inject it into the generations yet unborn'.Oba Ayodele used the medium to call the attention of the state governmen under the leadership of Rauf Aregbesola to the issue of non-availability of transformer in the ancient Itiya Community.Atiya stressed that, his community was always in support of any government in power, but that the area has always been neglected on the issue of dividends of democracy.According to the traditional ruler, 'electricity cables have been wired from Obokun to Itiya by the previous administration but it is unfortunate that, there is no transformer with which to connect those cables.'Atiya who described Governor Aregbesola as a listening leader, stated that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) led administration in the state should not allow the residents of Itiya to continue to sleep in darkness.
